Just filled up at local garage.

Price of derv has gone up again this week now £1.35 for derv.

The price of crude as broken the 100 doller barrier and still raising on friday.

What suprises me are the variations in price between local garages. I am registerd with petrol prices .com and get weekly updates.

Within 2 miles of where i live, Porthmadog area, derv this morning goes from 108.9 at Shell and Tesco, 109.9 at Texaco, 111.9 at unamed, and 112.9 at Esso.You can go on this site to find the prices of fuel anywhere in the UK, handy when caravaning.

I thought I was hard done by when our local Asda put their price up to 107.9 this morning but looking at some of the prices you lot are quoting maybe not !!.
 
Just to prove that every cloud has a silver lining 😉

Petrol sniffing among Aboriginal youths in South Australia has apparently decreased by almost 50% in the last year.

Presumably because heroin is now a cheaper fix?

The Highest price in this area: 116.9p

The Average price in this area: 110.2p

The Lowest price in this area: 105.9p
 
Against my better judgement I just decided to enrol onto petrolprices.com.

I filled in the details, postcode, name, password, email addy etc. then it directs you to another page wanting house number, password and postcode again.

O.K. fill those in but theres no clickable link to send it.

The only link is if you are having problems.

I click this and lo and behold they want my phone number. Why?

Anyone with any sense knows they aren't running this site for the love of the hard pressed motorist so now I can expect a load more junk mail through the letter box. Thankfully I didn't give them my phone number else I would be having more double glazing and time share phone calls. Somehow they have to pay for the site.

As I said, against my better judgement :O(
 
Now that's not strictly true! I have taken over my wife's Mondeo diesel witha near 50mpg overall consumption, and decided to stay in UK for this yaers Summer holiday. Instead of going down to the Med we are going to Northern Scotalnd ata mere 600 miles from base! I think that the Med might be nearer and I do get better consumption on the Sorento on French M roads.

When you get websites asking for obviously unnecessary and intrusive information, there is a very simple answer.

LIE!

Put in the postcode of a suitable local building (Town Hall? Bank?) Make up a name. Make up a phone number. If they want your occupation, religion, sexual preferences, race, age.... Just have fun.

Keep a hotmail address for just this kind of thing - though if there is no neeed for them to actually contact you, just put junkmail@hotmail.com.

Except when you are expecting a physical delivery, there is no need for them to have your correct address.

We like our hobby, so we carry on paying.

I get regular price emails from PetrolPrices.com and they only contact with prices and sometimes an email to another site that may be of interest if you are sick of paying hugh amounts of tax on your fuel, as to what we can do about it the following may be of interest to some. www.transaction-2007.com I am waiting to sign up for the revolution but until then as a motorist will continue to be hit from every angle in rip of Britain. I did read in another caravan mag that there had been plans a foot by our dear EU MPs to road tax caravans but its possibly gone off the boil, for how long!
 
I think it is going to get a lot worse!

What with the slow down in the economy world wide investors are putting their money into gold and oil $102 for a barrel yesterday they can only seeing it getting worse!

What can you do?

People who actually pay for their fuel is only about a third of the buying public others are fuelcards etc.They dont care about prices and go who has the best offers/promotions.

If you can change them then we might have a hope,but all the time the Government is raking in more tax,wouldnt mind if it went back into roads,NHS and schools instead of inquests that will costs millions!!!!
 
Its a funny thing this ever increasing oil prices, would have thought by now that the roads would becoming quieter , Local Children would be walking to school , but nothing appears to be changing the local school runs are still there not talking miles here just around the corner, the local A 12 the traffic thunders past me at when driving at 60 (as if i was standing still) where my car is running at its optimal fuel effiency, obviosly people still have money to burn.One day not I hope in my lifetime , the oil will stop, and we will all be back living in Candleford style.
 
Short of discovering vast new reserves or a viable alternative to oil or half the world's population of humans dying I would suspect there is nothing one can do about high fuel prices other than pay up or adapt to a life without fuel.

I am envious of my parent's generation, born in the 1930's, too young to be involved much in the 2nd world war and will have passed away by the time the REAL fuel crisis hits, I prefer not to think about the future for myself and my children but we are selling our old house in favour of a modern, well insulated house that is nearer to work and freinds/relatives
 
Alternatives????

well it doesn't really matter what the alternatives are. As soon as there is one and we all start to shift on mass to it then Government will then start heaping tax on to it to reap their rewards.

I remeber diesel being pittifully cheap compared to petrol. Then it became the popular choice and low and behold its now more expensive than petrol.

As for LPG or the like thats creeping up so it too wont be as cheep and alternative before long if more people convert.

Bottom line we need fuel the Government need cash so they tax our essentials.

We shift to public transport they'll tax our bus ticket. We shift to push bikes they'll find away to still tax us.

we cant win.
 
hi all,

visited a chevron(texaco)refineary,last week and speaking to a top bod (Ellsmere port)he was under the impression it would level off at 125p a litre of diesel.as said were will it end?
