Full awning in wind?? (Fibreglass poles)

I have a Dorma Monza full awning with fibreglass poles. I’m about to go on holiday to France and I’m hoping to be able to put the awning up for the time we are there as it’s going to be drizzly and chilly. It’s a windy place where we stay and I’m wondering what peoples thoughts are on the safety of putting our awning up. I’ve only ever put it up once and it took almost a full day and many arguments so it’s going to be an expedition and don’t want to have to then take it down because we’re worried it’s going to lift off or break in wind. We do have a set of storm straps. What do people think?

Great advice. Thank you. I’m going to buy another box of pegs. I didn’t know about opening up the sides. I think I’m going to go for it!

I remember the first time I ever put up a full size awning and it was a very windy day.

The instructions blew away and were never seen again. My son-in-law and I struggled to get it threaded through the rails until some kind sole came over and gave us some silicone spray for the rails.

It then went in easy. After some time we stood back to admire our work but something didn't look right. Mrs V and daughter came along after looking around at others and spotted that we put it up inside out.

Down it came but went up the second time much quicker.

It took us over an hour to realise that the poles were stored one inside the other! After being on hold with the company and putting in a complaint that we had missing poles…you live and learn! We were so new to caravaning that we had only picked up our first van up the week before. Let’s hope next week is slightly easier!

Adding additional long guy ropes at a lower angle if possible may assist
