Gas BBQ recommendations please

Hi,
Clearly weight plays a big role, but I’m looking for a self standing BBQ that’s big enough but not too huge. I don’t mind paying a premium price for the right one. So far I’m bewildered by the multitude of choices. All advice gratefully received.

Cadac Carri Chef is the default choice for most caravan users

From experience, on pretty much any site you visit, more than half the caravans have one sat outside!

I’ve got the Cadac Carry Chef and with the paella pan all day breakfast is a doddle.

We have a Cadac and love it. But strictly speaking it is a gas grill not a barbecue. If you want a gas barbecue have a look at a Weber. We have a charcoal Weber (Smoky Joe). It is brilliant.

Cadac all the way. Brilliant piece of kit, 14 years old and never had a problem with it.

We love our CAdac-got the pizza stone now and it does make great pizzas!

We binned our Cadac a basically useless as a BBQ in our opinion and bought a CampingGaz Attitude 2100 table top BBQ. For BBQ it is brilliant and you get that taste. Shop around for the best price as we paid under £160 for ours plus 4 cylinders.
Having said that the Cadac is okay for mundane boring items and has has been sitting in our garage for the past 5 years after only using it a couple of times. Still looks brand new.

The thing about a CADAC is that it gives you a very wide variety of cooking methods. From grilling to frying, boiling and roasting . Very handy for the caravaner and camper. Versatile

I think that when you see how many people on sites use Cadac, it must be meeting their needs. Whilst it may not be a BBQ to the purists it does give good cooking and with a bit of ingenuity you can even obtain the smoky flavour to your “ mundane and boring” food. A few wood chips work wonders if you really desire the authentic taste.

I fitted mine with a quick release coupling and can now use it with Camping Gaz cylinders ( propane) Calor propane or butane, or Patio gas as I’ve now got hoses and regulators and quick release connectors for my kit.

A fantstic bit of kit, but no spare for that model.


So, I am now thinking of buying a Campinggaz party grill. £40 from Go outdoors at the moment.

She's not that food orientated, now her pal who was kept under the table is like a vacuum cleaner. Just see her nose bottom right waiting for anything that might be dropped.

We have a Cadac Grillo Chef and are happy with that. Might be a bit bulky if you are tight for space but it is big enough for a barbeque at home as well. Possibly I would find a retailer and have a look at them although we got an excellent deal through the CAMH club shop but not sure if it is still on. That did include extras which you may not want though.

I have one of those as well, nice little bit of kit, fitted the Cadac quick release fitting to I can use the big cadac or this one.

Agree it is s very versatile piece of kit. Have done many roasts on it , lid on of course. Ours plugs into the outside gas point.

I am so embarrassed about that as my first two jobs were a mobile hot dog and burger van, and trainee chef in Lewis department store in Leicester. Mind you I did not progress beyond soup chef.....and no where near sous chef.
