I wonder how posters living in Scotland managed with the gentle breeze that wafted over Scotland and Isle of Skye? Hope all are safe?

Last night's news showed several caravans on their sides at a site by Loch Lomond and reports of several campervans overturned on Skye - hope all the people are ok.

It was on GMB this morning for about 2 seconds so obviously they do not regard it as news?

I heard from two friends, in the North, one in Pitlochry, strong winds and heavy rain , they managed to get their awning down before the really strong winds. and the same from below Glasgow. Much less to day though.

Och that was just a gentle breeze, we've had worst. At least the house wasn't shaking this time. Electric stayed on surprisingly. Burn through the garden was flowing well.

Haven't downloaded my weather station yet so not sure of actual gusts. We're on the west side and the wind was blowing directly at us. Large ship in the bay taking shelter.

Did venture out in the car and it wasn't too bad. Had a problem though getting the gates to stay open onto our driveway when coming back. The wind kept blowing one shut and last thing I needed was it closing as I drive through. Had a hard time pushing it open and then wedge it with a rock. Got in car and gunned it up the driveway. Then down to shut the gates. All this in pouring rain.

I know the area where vans etc tip over in the wind as we've seen it happen. We were wondering how many of those camper vans were rented by people who don't have much of a clue about driving them.

Tesco's delivers to the Island and we were due to get a collection today but got a message last night that due to 'technical problems' our order for today was cancelled. Wind related...no idea!

Had to spend and arm and a leg at the Co-op this morning in Portree instead. Lots of damaged trees by the side of the roads on the way. Potholes are getting deeper.

Today sunny but still a stiff breeze.

Our Australian friends who stayed with us a couple of weeks ago are now on their massive UK and Ireland tour. See:

Some years back they came over. To get home the took a cruise from Rome to Singapore. They hoped to tick Petra (Jordan), of the bucket list en-route. But large stormed put payed to that.

This time they hoped to tick off another site. The Giant’s Causway. Storm Floris stopped that.

Just no luck.

I was (still am) on a cruise ship that left Greenock for Iceland on Sunday night.
It was a bit "lively" overnight once we cleared the Firth of Clyde and headed North through it.

One of the worst storms at sea I have encountered was between Cape Town and Robben Island back in the early seventies. Land was less than 5km away, but most of the time we could not even see Table Mountain as we went into a trough. Area is not known as the Cape of Storms for nothing and over 500 shipwrecks in Table bay are testament to that saying.
