Can anybody advise me on average per night prices in Germany in July, car caravan 2 adults EHU? Does any body have a database of stellplatz that allow caravans?

Like everywhere else, charges vary a lot depending on the facilities. You can expect to pay around €30 to €50 a night including electricity in July.
The website "Stellplatz.info" lists over 1500 Stellplätze of the 16,900 in total that allow caravans. You have to apply the filter "Wohnwagen erlaubt".

Generally “Yes” but security could be an issue. Plenty of Stellpltaz like Aires or nearby campsites.

On a similar theme, can you park up overnight with a caravan at the autobahn services?

Yes, you can, but I wouldn’t advise it. Few service areas have parking facilities specifically for caravans so one would have to park where the trucks are. It’s no fun when there’s a 40 tonner next to you with the refrigerator unit running all night. Whenever I’ve been in a situation where I was unable to find a campsite close to the autobahn I would leave the autobahn and stop off on a nearby supermarket car park.

Associated theme: does anyone know of a convenient place to park for the night prior to using the Channel Tunnel? I live is S Wales so it’s a good 5 hrs for me to get there. If I could park up somewhere overnight it would make the journey much more palatable.

We always used CMHC Black Horse Farm. It’s geared to 24 hours arrivals and departures. Normal CMHC facilities and pubs near by.

We usually travel down to the tunnel and go over about 5pm and stay just outside Calais, we also travel from South Wales
