Hi,
We are leaving dover on August 29 for a trip accross Germany through the Thuringia region to Dresden and beyond.
So far I have only booked our first night at Gan Spette.
The plan is to cross Belgium and stay at an ACSI site near the German border as a first day experience. After this the plan is flexible but generally south around Koln on the A4 - E40 on to Giessen, Eisenach and stay at Paulfeld. Then on to Erfurt and Dresden. This sounds like "a rush" but we not in a hurry and wish to see as much of this part of Germany as possible (can't wait for the Bratwurst).
Any suggestions and/or recommendations for stops and sites would be most welcome.

Doug

We have been up that area once and really enjoyed Colditz there is a site there just out of town with a short drive to the center and walk up a flight of steps for a most interesting tour of the Castle. Bamberg is a lovely town you can get a trip up the Danube from there too. Coburg is another nice town home of Price Albert. To see info on these places they are within Trip No. 2. 2005. on my website. www.dvthompson.webs.com I am not sure if any of the sites are in the ACSI Camping Card Book as 2005 when we went ACSI C.C was only in its 2nd year and there were not many sites listed and I have not got my 2010 Book to hand at the moment.

Dianne T and David,
Thank you for your timely replies and advice.
In fact, it was reading both of your exceptionally good web sites and some useful tips which Lutz gave to others users, that inspired me to attempt this trip.
Dresden Mockritz is now definitely on the list.
Just going to read your updated details Dianne. Just got back from an astronomy "star fest" in Dalby forrest where it rained continuously for four days.
