Hi

3 yrs ago went to el delfin Verdi. Lovely campsite, this year we would like to go just past Barcelona. Can anybody advise us of a good family campsite by the coast, along the lines of el delfin would be great? Got 2 girls 11/13 yrs so would like plenty to keep them busy like a good pool ect. Got to be in travelling distance of a water park or my life wont be worth living. Only just decided to go to Spain this year so hope were no to late to book anywhere.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks Richard W

I Richard (& Family)

We also did EDV last year, while there we travelled to visit family at CAMBRILS PARK near to Salou. It is another 140 miles on from EDV but well worth having a look at it.

2 pools (one dedicated to youngsters) good food outlets etc.

We are hoping to go to Barcelona area in September. Can anyone suggest a good site, with good public transport links to Barcelona. Does not need to be a hot bed of entertainment off spring have flown the nest.

Hi Richard

We've just booked Playa Montroig in Tarragona. We went to Tarragona two years ago and stayed at La Torre del Sol which is next to Playa Montroig. There is a good pool in La Torre del Sol. Both these sites are on the coast we had a pitch right on the beach. There is Port Aventura in Salou which has a water park.

hi

Vilanova Park should suit.bus stops outside camp, to station, short hop to barcelona.stayed there a couple of years ago, really enjoyed it.good facilties, two wonderful pools, and indoor complex. beach nearby.cant tell you if water park, poss! only thing i didnt like was animal park, bit smelly and run down.oh and some people thought water salty, use bottle for drinking.you will have to go a long way to beat el delfin verdi for children, but this is much more reasonable and is even a camping cheque site. www.vilanovapark.es hope this helps. Hi Nick

We booked till the 23rd of August. When we stayed at La Torre del Sol we took a walk down the beach to Playa Montroig, it looked lovely. We did not get to go onto the site there a security guard sitting on a chair on the entrance to the site.

Thanks all

Playa Montroig looks nice and so does La Torre del Sol. Both with lovely pools looks like it's between these two. Got a couple of days to make my mind up before I can book. Thanks for your help

Cheers Richard w

I don't think you'll beat Cambrils Park http://www.cambrilspark.es/en/ElNostreCamping/

We've been there lots of time - absolutely first class facilities - the sanitary blocks are the cleanest I've ever seen. There are two fantastic pool complexes, a bar, restaurant, take-away, coffee shop, supermarket, beach goods shop, cash machines, supermarket within waling distance, beach within walking distance, Port Aventura virtually on the doorstep, and the Ebro Delta (for nature lovers) just down the coast. One of our favourite sites, particularly outside peak season when you can also use Camping Cheques (

Hello.

We have also thought about Cambrils Park but were worried about pitch access and size.

Do the many trees (that are great for providing shade) hinder getting a large 'van pitched.

That is the only thing worrying us.

Thanks

On the camping cheque network there is a site 12km from Barcelona called Estella. Has anyone been there? It looks a bit packed in from the pics but we are going in September and really only want it for a couple of days in order to visit Barcelona.

Hi Richard have a look at camping L'Amfora its about hour north of barcelona they are good sized pitches and there are 2 pools and a short walk to the beach,we stayed at cambrills a couple of years back now and it is a lovely clean well run site the only downside for us was the size of the pitches we struggled to get our twin axle van on the pitch but there was plenty of people on hand to help us .

Saladdodger: Some of the pitches at Cambrils are larger than others. We had a huge pitch last time we were there, and no problem getting the van on and off. We were to the right of the pool nearest the entrance, one 'avenue' after the pool, near to the washblock. (Can't get the site map up to give you a pitch number). There is usually someone on hand to give you a hand positioning the van.

In reply to your other posting about journeys and stopovers, we usually stop the first night on an Aire near Calais (arriving after midnight), then get down to Clermont Ferrand area for a proper overnight stop on a site, and another down on the mediterranean, sometimes at Le Boucanet, or near Argeles - then an easy drive down into Spain the following morning. This suits us, we use mostly non-toll roads, and have no children with us now, although we have had in the past when we've been to Cambrils. We're travelling low-season, usually, and the journey is part of the holiday so we're in no particular hurry. We've done Cambrils Park at Easter and at Spring Bank Holiday - and used Camping Cheques each time. We've had our son and friends with us in the past - and they loved it there, and we met my sister and her family the year before last - and they loved it too.

Have you considered Blanes. Their is quiet a choice of campsites some right on the beach we use EL Pina. Their is also a bus station and train station in the town with free parking to travel to Barcelona. If you up to it both are in reasonable walking distance. You can also drive to many other nearby resorts on the coast road. We having been going there for the last four years but only in the low season (wrinkleys now) I would guess Blanes gets busy in high season. We like it as we met the same people each year all different nationality (we are the only brits). You are right in the town with plenty of resturants, shops etc so you can have a drink or two with no drink drive worries. Also their is a tourist bus which stops outside the various camps which takes you down to the old town & port area for more resturants etc plus runs until about 10pm. Also a huge market each Monday which runs right along the seafront.
