Although the caravan I bought last year came with a Hitch Lock there is no name on it and the key is more difficult to turn

Its a 2013 Coachman Amara.

Can anyone recommend a Hitch Lock which will be good enough for my Caravan Insurance Please.
(I insure with the Camping and Caravan Club.

All replies gratefully received.

Alko do a neat conformal hitch lock that sits tightly over the hitch and is compatible with the Alko stabiliser handle fitment. You can also buy an accessory that’s like a plastic towball that fits up into the hitch before you fit the hitchlock.

I have a number of trailers and a caravan , all fitted with Stronghold hitch locks, my rational for fitting them is that, whilst no lock is 100% thief proof, these particular locks are made with some quite robust steel, yes they could be cut off with a grinder, but it would take more than a couple of minuets and create a fair bit of noise.
I presume that Coachman use an Al-Ko chassis, so you can also fit the Al-Ko wheel lock, that I would think gets a better security rating by insurance companies.

We use a Milenco Super Heavy which seems pretty good and complies with insurance requirements. It has never been put to the test however, but their products are generally some of the best.
In practice I am not convinced by these devices as they an be overcome by simply using rope or chain to attach the caravan to the towing vehicle without the need to remove the lock. Thieves can then remove the lock at their leisure.
