About 10 years ago we were bought Le Creuset salt and pepper mills for Christmas. They have served well and I have renewed the mechanism a few times. A while back I stripped them down and gave them a good wash. Before re-assembling I left the bits out to properly dry.

Inside there is a plastic shroud that centres the top and allows it to turn. One went missing, but no one will admit to it.

I could not get a spare.

Last week I called at the Le Creuset shop to ask. They simply said to bring it in and they will give me a new one.

Today I took both the salt and the pepper in. No problem they said. We will change them both. No argument.

The list price is £41 each. But you can get them on Amazon for £26.

If only all warrantees were like this.
