I had a letter today telling me my cover had expired on 1st December, when I checked it had indeed run out, so I phoned and renewed it. On checking, I had not had any notification that it was due for renewal by post or email.
Perhaps it is worth other forum members checking their renewal dates in case they don't get notification either

It might be that not renewing could work in your favour by going to join as a new customer and getting a better price.

Looks like you got away with a saving for the period you were off cover but could have been a problem. Not sure what went wrong, as they have always been pretty good in letting us know.
