Grey Waste Water Rigid Pipes - Bailey Senator Series 6

Had the need to take the sink out to get to the bottom of the tap on a 2009 Bailey Senator Series 6. The waste trap pushes on to the rigid waste pipe. Can someone tell me if this is supposed to be solvent welded or is it just push fit? Also what is the cream stuff on the seal called? Thanks in anticipation.

Normally push fit. I think the cream stuff it what someone has added, normally nothing is used, just clean surfaces.

Our Swift came with push fit under the sink, which soon parted company and flooded kitchen cupboard, so I glued it, no problem since, the plug hole white stuff is some sort of sealant I would guess, when I refitted ours I used a smear of clear sealant, no problems sonce.

We have a series 5 Senator and I have had to remove and refit the shower room /toilet area due to the dreaded rear roof strap, the grey waste pipes are just push fit, the waste for the shower had a washer with white sealant of some kind between the shower tray and waste all I used was sealant on both sides of the washer and had no problems.

There is no pressure in the waste system, so a push fit is fine.

Push is fine…… until someone empties a boiled kettle down the plug 🫣 . Pipe expands, pipe falls off, nobody realises. Carpet wet.

A lot of hot water has gone down my various plug 'oles over the years without that ever happening. If it makes you feel happier then fit a jubilee clip, it cannot do any harm!
