On Jan 10th Mrs V ordered some teas and spices from a company in Yorkshire. She got a tracking number which didn't change for days.

Two days ago she contacted the company to say the stuff hadn't arrived. The company checked and got back to her. Parcel lost as it had not been scanned in anywhere. Another shipment with a different courier was sent out.

Yesterday the original parcel arrived.

She contacted the supplier who said if the second lot arrives just keep it...about £50 worth of stuff.

When we found out the original courier we knew we were in for trouble. I'm now awaiting a second item from Amazon who are using the same courier for some reason.🙄

See if you can guess the courier with the poor performance.

I wish companies were obligated to give the consumer a choice of couriers or at the very least name the courier. Most of us have a courier we would rather avoid.

I had something that was supposed to be Royal Mail 48 hour tracked, it took 6 days but because the sender had paid for the postage not me (even though the cost was clearly included in the price I paid) Royal Mail fobbed me off either "Its only the sender who can lodge a complaint, not the receiver"

I guess that is about right? However many companies who are sending the goods tell you that it is your responsibility to chase any delay with the courier.

I would think that the contract is only fulfilled once the goods have been delivered to the nominated address and even then it can be disputed as the consumer still may not have received the goods i.e. a signature is required,

A while back we had a disputed regarding goods that were supposed to have been delivered and a photo was included. The photo was of someone else's door and not ours. They tried to blame us!

I had the same from an Ebay seller. Looking at the tracking history it was clear that though they'd said it was posted immediately it wasn't given to the Royal Mail until 4 days later. Then it took the 2 days to get here.

Royal Mail or Yodel both take well over a week even if it's a 48hr jobbie.
Evri has only let me down once and that's because I put the wrong number on the package, one digit out. Parcel returned and sent out again with the correct number.

DPD in these parts is by far the worst. Last parcel to home photo provided by courier over 1.5 miles away at another postcode. Today DPD delivered to business next door to ours the post office. Kind people from post office popped in to tell us they have our parcel.

I think it is so dependent on the local driver. We have a regular Evri driver called Paddy on our round and he is brilliant; never had a problem. The Yodel Yokel on the other hand….

A bit of Googling will soon show which of the two courier companies as the more complaints.
Spoiler alert, it's not Yodel

Evri/Hermes/Herpes have, in the last 12 months, lost 4 deliveries I have ordered.

I have had two packages dispatched through Evri recently. The first was dispatched (from Amazon but delivered by Evri). It stayed at the local depot for three days until it finally got left on the doorstep. The second one arrived at the Depot on 6th January and because of the value was meant to be delivered to the local Parcel Shop. That took until 16th January. ABsolutely useless in this area!

Since the pandemic it has been the norm for couriers to leave parcels on the doorstep. The Royal Mail being our exception. They either ask a neighbour or return it to a local sorting office where the parcel can be collected. Prior to the pandemic the commercial courier companies would retain the parcel and try and deliver it on two successive days, but we never had parcels left on the doorstep. You could then go to the courier depot to pick it up. We look out for each other at neighbouring houses and if a parcel is on the doorstep we take it in.

On more than one occasions we have had the postman sign as delivered. Worst was wife's passport was left in recycling bin and had been signed for. If it had been me, I probably would not have noticed it, but OH's eagle eye spotted it as she went to empty it into the main recycling bin.

That postman no longer delivers to our area as others were also complaining of missing post etc. Apparently he was retired early.

All my local couriers know that the outer front door is never locked ( the inner one is ) so they just open it and put packages inside even if we are at home. The first I know about it is when the delivered email pops up in my inbox.
I know when there is a "new boy" on the round as they don't put it inside the door and ring the bell
