Went in a few years back and turned around and immediately came back out.

It was only May and it was too big and too busy for us so we moved on to Seafield Caravan Park in Seahouses (about an hour further down the road.

The touring pitches we looked at were very regimented with little space between. Not for us but if you have kids the entertainment must by great albeit expensive.

Now have a 1 year old daughter so will have to "encourage" her to like nice quiet sites!!!

We had a look in in September when we were at Ord House (Berwick).

Very busy, loud, commercial (in the worst sense), tourers are cramped and regimented. Not my cup of tea at all.

Without exaggeration, if I had to stop at a site like this I would sell the van and pack it in.

However, the site was busy,as are many similar sites so obviously appeals to some people. Fortunately for us all we are all different and such sites fulfill a need. Just not mine.

We also had a look on this site while staying at Ord House. It did not impress us at all, I would not recommend a visit to this site.

thanks for your comments folks, that's pretty much what I expected but you never know.

I had done a search which found nothing, then found the thread on Haven which gave more opinions on these sites.

best wishes, Mark (",)

hi mark,

we`ve been to haggerston castle 3 times & enjoyed it everytime.

if you`ve got kids then they`ll be well entertained from morning till night, naturally the haven sites are commercial sites that simply want to exploit those who feel appliged to keep putting there hands into their pockets for the arcade machines, costly drinks etc,but its up to the individual parents to deal with that problem.

but we did once get flooded out a couple of years ago, although we did get a refund & it could happen to any site.

everyone has a different opinion of haven sites and most caravan sites, but it depends on what you want from that holiday.

just my thoughts :)

enjoy it what ever you do

I have never been but heard many reports about haggerston castle, all bad!! well to me that is! It seems to be where all the lager louts go, someone told me its 10 pints and a punch up, complete with sawdust on the floor and spitoons in the corners, not my cup of tea, yes! kids entertainment is great, but I have kids and prefer quieter sites. Been to ord House, Berwick and Going to Seafield at Seahouses this year, after peoples recommendations!

we stay there ocasionally twice last year and going again next month.we always find the site fine, although can get very wet so ask for a super pitch.

the site is typical haven lots to do for kids, quite loud etc.but you would expect that if you want a quiet site dont go to commercail ones like haven.

Went to this site a couple of years ago and found it to be clean and well run. The entertainment was typical of the Haven style, plenty of kids club activities a lot of which seemed to entail buying something. The nightclub bar had a queuing system to pay for your drinks then you took your ticket to the bar when your number lit up (shades of Argos I suppose). If you do go be prepared for the over the top sales pitch of Haven to part ex your tourer for the delights of one of their statics.
