Has anyone wired up a 12n socket to an old shape mondeo ST tdci hatch? If so do I need a bypass relay? The new ones do, but I don't think the old ones do, but wanted to check with someone who has perhaps done one before? Any help gratefully accepted!!

Thanks

John

Hi i have a 2002 1.8 zetec when i fitted my own towbar and electrics i looked in to this and it turns out that if you have the onboard computer (most models above zetec)you need the bypass relay if you dont have the onboard computer (which i dont) then you dont need one my lights work fine!

You need a 7 way bypass relay. This takes its signals from the car's lights but draws barely any power. All it's power is taken from a good 12v feed.

hi john i did 1 of these not so long ago got my parts from towsure

you need a 7 way smart bypass relay (code H52) and a pre-wired N type socket

on the ST you can run your live feed straight from the battery along the under side of the car down the drivers side as were the brake pipes are seated there is a spare set of clips along the length of the car

the bypass will sit snuggly behind the passenger side rear light cluster as theres a indent in the mounting plate for the lights hope this helps
