A lot depends on exactly what was written and in some cases there is a judgement call for moderators who either base their actions on previous experience or advice from Haymarket Administrators.
As I tried to explain, caravan manufacturers and by the same token car manufacturers are highly unlikely to sue the forum because criticism would be unlikely to affect their overall sales figures or seriously damage their business even if the statements are not proven. Comments which 'rubbish' cars for instance are merely opinions but if the dealer who supplied and serviced the car was 'rubbished' in the same way the comment could form the basis for legal action so it wouldn't be published on the forum.

When a caravan manufacturer launches a new model there may be as yet undidentified glitches or design faults which wouldn't become apparent until the caravan was actually being used by the person who bought it. The sticking Hartal door locks was first brought to the manufacturers attention because of forum posts, as was the stone chip damage to Alu Tec front panels and there have been many other such instances.

The problems were identified relatively early on because of the immediacy of internet forums which meant that various caravan manufacturers found out in weeks things that would have taken months to come to light if they had been filtered through various caravan dealerships so in one sense it could be argued that forum gripes perform a service for caravan manufacturers.
Complaints or disputes concerning smaller companies can still be aired but the name of the comany concerned cannot appear, for reasons that I explained.
It is still possible to receive advice even if the company cannot be named, the sale of goods act and consumer law applies to all UK companies so if the complaniant acts upon the advice offered the problem can often be resolved.

The sunbject has been ddiscussed at length many times and the basic facts are that Haymarket own and run the Forum and they dictate what can and cannot be printed.
We as Modertors have no say in that whatsoever, we just have to adhere to the rules as set, same as everyone else, and apply the rules as and when it is necessary.
We do let some discussion run at times if it is in the members interests to let it run, sometimes against the wishes of Haymarket, but the discussion must be of relevance, not insulting just for the sake of it, and not personal.
All postings of complaints must be true, independently verifiable and kept to the actual facts, not conjecture.

In the case of the OP and Powrtouch, it is worth remembering that Powrtouch do NOT directly employ any engineers, all their work is carried out by independent engineers who either are fixed location based in workshops , or mobile engineers who have their own businesses to run and try to fit Powrouch work into their timetable as son as they can.

However, it is not always possible for engineers to respond immediately and sometimes it is unavoidable for delays to happen for various reasons, workload of the engineer in the location, engineers on holiday and in my own case not being available for a few months due to the sudden death of my Daughter and if anyone thinks I was going to fix a mover in these times, think again, its only a mover, its not a life or death thing.

Its about time people got real and realised just what is important in life, because once you deal with something we have had to , and still are trying to deal with, you will realise what is important and what is not.

My condolences Damian, we know how difficult these very sad losses are and I'm sure many others also do.
From recent personal experience we unfortunately know how upsetting it is to have a product fail and then to get the poorest of service from a manufacturer during a very difficult personal time.
Poor or lacking service re a product is nothing like sufferieng bereavement, but product failure, poor service and lack of customer care can impact on lives during family or persnal difficulties or have a detrimental impact on health issues!
Some years ago during a caravanning holiday we met a family who were returning to the UK with their terminally ill child. The families pemium model car was less than a year old and had broken down for the umteemth time, a very distressing scenario with a young child and distraught parents and suplliers and breakdown services who were completely uncaring and thoughtless.
Upset angry customer's may also have private sad things going on in their lives, please don't dismiss peoples complaints and anger, a supplier or repair agent is never going to know what is going on in a customers life.

I happen to know that Damian is in a world of pain and grief at this present time, I don't beleive that he was really trying to dismiss anybody's complaints or anger at the failure of a product but from his perspective these matters would not be particularly significant in the wider sense.
I could never begin to imagine how Damian feels, but I can understand why he would feel rage shock and grief and I'm sure that other forum members will share this understanding.

Perhaps Parksy this one has run it's course and it's time just to draw a line under it. I know how very supportive many members of this forum can be and how much individuals have cared about what has happened to my Daughter and I over the last 3 years. I have very much appreciated it through the deepest darkest moments and through the happy and joyous times too. I also know how heated we can all become at times over certain issues but we all rally round and get over the heat of the moment. There comes a time however, when perhaps subjects shouldn't get mixed together?? Just my thoughts anyway.

Thank you Simon, I will lock this topic now, but please let us know if and when Powertouch sort out your motor mover, it is highly unusual for them to be accused of poor customer service.
