Thanks very much TC, your thoughts are very much appreciated.
Fancy a little giggle? I was reading my contract of employment earlier and this is what is written
Disciplinary Actions
Although the majority of problems are solved by discussion, you are made aware that INSTANT DISMISSAL will apply should the following take place:-
a)
b)
c) Verbal abuse or physical abuse to either other employees of this company, a client or his agent, or another operative.
d)
e)
The question is can I sack him?

Hi Kev
Hope you are ok my Woosie?

Employment Law today is stacked in favour of the Employee.
Assuming, quite rightly you have done nothing wrong nor in way breached the terms and conditions of your Contract of Employment , this bully boy MD is way out of order.
I assume you have buildings and contents insurance on your home? As TC said a lot of these policies will afford you free Legal Expenses Cover for Employment disputes. If you do have such cover lodge a claim with the Insurers NOW. Failure to inform them NOW will be deemed a delay in notification and may predjudice your future claim.

Your Contract of Employment should clearly set out the grievance procedures which have to be followed by both sides.
Best wishes Kev

Before I tell you what happened today I would like to offer you my heart felt thanks for all the advice and guidance you have given me i;e stay calm, listen, dont interupt and dont punch!
Started off very awkward, asked me before we went into the meeting if I really wanted a witness. My reply was all guidance advises having some-one with you.
(MD) explain the incident, and exactly what happened
(Me) as MD it's your duty to conduct the meeting.
He was not happy,
(MD) that's a cop out
(Me) As the MD you have to make the decision and proceed how you feel fit.
Then it happened... he explained every thing as it actually happened (feel myself smiling inside---got ya)
He admitted he was in the wrong and even went as far to say that he needed ME to run his depot, (scratch my head some-one)
It felt like I had a little puppy dog eating out of my hand. Or was it because my contract of employment was open showing the Disiciniplary Action Procedure about instant dismissal and verbal abuse.

Once again thanks to you all, very much appreciated
So there you are, I am still employed

Well done Kev but I never doubted for a minute that you would still be employed. The only slip up was that you should have asked for a rise while he was on the back foot
