Head light adaptors

Can anyone suggest a tried and tested way of removing the glue residue from headlights,we have tried many things but to no avail. thanks.

If the headlight lenses are made of plastic, you have to be very careful when using cleaning solvents. Although protected by a scratch resistant film, polycarbonate plastic is readily attacked by solvents such as petrol, acetone or carbon tetrachloride. Also avoid highly alkaline cleaners. Alcohol, on the other hand, is OK, as is window cleaner containing ammonia, but always wash with clean water afterwards, just to be safe.

It does help to get the m warm by putting on the headlights for a few minutes before trying to remove. (I find it actually says this in the instructions, but of course I only read the bits about how to fit them !)
