I'm planning on taking my '57 Sorrento over to France for holidays, and wondered how to fit deflectors / converters onto headlights. As it has been such a popular towcar, thought someone may be able to assist. Thanks.

Been to France many times and have never bought "headlamp deflectors",I always use black tape - just as effective and cheaper too.
Regarding where to fit, there is usually a pattern on the headlamp glass onto where the deflector should be fitted, maybe your handbook shows this, otherwise I would visit the car dealer for this info.

I also use tape.......gaffer tape......what else would I use!

If you are standing looking at your headlights the tape always goes on the clock segment between 7 and 9 o'clock ......I use a sharp knife to trim off the excess for a neat finish taking great care not to cause damage to myself or the lens.
Many headlights have this segment marked on the lens at manufacture as bertieboy1 says.
I always adjust my headlight beam height to a lower setting as well.
