Hello all,
I'm completely new to the caravan scene, following in the footsteps of my sister and her husband who have done this thing for many years, it's now time to take my family on many adventures around the UK.
Just under 3 years ago I bought myself a rock solid, really well looked after 1995 Lunar Premiere which I've just taken out of storage and been on a couple of trips.
After replacing tyres, adjusting the handbrake and general maintenance I've noticed my overdrive system isn't working when towing the caravan.
The gator compresses with the caravan almost bumping into the rear of the towbar, and on closer inspection when the gaitor is fully compressed there is no contact with the lever that operates the brakes whatsoever - sorry I don't know the correct terminology of these parts... Yet.
I've rang around and have been advised to purchase an Alko Hitch Override System via eBay for around £150 as the parts for these caravans are basically non existent due to their age.
Has anyone else experienced this issue with an older caravan and what route did you take?
Big post to start I know.
Thanks in advance 👍🏼
