Hi all
bob n syl here, after beating the big c twice (touchwood) we realised that our jaunting abroad on a plane had come to an end ,so we bought our first caravan an Avondale 2 berth but didn't know really what to look for and discovered there was rather a lot of things wrong with it so before we went away I did quite a lot of repairs on it..Anyway we finally got away to scarborough for a fortnight my first towing experience for 30 years (only got lost once), but we absolutely loved the holiday,so much so it was only 4 days after we got back that we visited our local caravan dealer and upgraded to a bailey pageant imperial, we enjoyed the following year so much that we think caravanning is in our blood...But making the bed up everynight was hard work for myself as the big c has left its mark on my health,so what do we do but take an early couple of days down in Garstang and upgrade again to a coachman amara festival with fixed bed.and now when we get home we just cant wait to go away again.

Welcome to the Forum Bob & Syl.
You certainly appear to have a great attitude to your previous health difficulties.
I'm sure the future with your new caravan will be wonderful.
I hope you will keep posting about the places and sites you visit.
Best wishes to you both and happy caravanning.
Best regards Brian

Hi Bob & Sylvia, this is a great site for help and just for chit chat, it's nice to see what other people are up to and by reading about various problems people have encountered it gives you a bit of an insight as to how to tackle loads of things you might otherwise have paid out to get others to fix for you, which part of the country are you in? I'm in northamptonshire myself and have only been caravanning for 4 or 5 years so compared to some of the people on here I'm an absolute novice but loving every minute of it.

Hi Bob & Syl, welcome to the forum.
Well done on battling the health issues and congratulations on buying the Coachman.
We used to have to do the nightly PE session of sorting out the bed until we upgraded to a caravan with a fixed bed, I bet you wouldn't go back to making up the bed now would you?
We wouldn't!
Enjoy the forum :cheer:

thank you all for your kind welcome letters. As an x gas engineer (retired now) I thought it would be cheaper and done to my satisfaction to do the repairs on my first van myself.i would like to pass on a tip I found trying to open a window from the outside as it separated from the inside panel, so now we never open the windows from the outside. the repair was going to be rather costly to have the window re laminated or a new window (didn't think about the insurance at the time).so anyway I set about the repair myself I went to a local tool shop who advised me which sealant to buy (fix all by soudal ) its a clear sealant and has done the job perfectly so for fifteen pounds it was well worth it. Hope this will help someone who has done the same stupid mistake as I did.

wishing you all a very nice summer
Bob
