Hello from Lianne & Alan

Hello

We are a couple with 3 children and we have been caravanning for 9 years. This year we took the plunge and bought a new caravan, a Fleetwood Heritage 640 ES(6), before that we had a Sterling Eccles Sapphire from 1 year old. Having a new van is like starting all over again. It took us forever to put the awning up, we could have charged a spectator fee! For the past three years we have taken the 'van abroad for three weeks in the summer, this year we are going to Croatia. Looking forward to sharing news and views.

Welcome to the Forum.

We really admire you for taking the caravan so far with 3 kids in tow. So far, the furthest we've managed is Sheffield to Berwick-Upon-Tweed! Only been towing since October though and gaining in confidence every time we go out.

We've got 3 kids as well but are taking the van to York in a couple of weeks for a long weekend without our lovely boys - can't wait. Love em to bits but really need a biot of adult only time.

Nice to hear from you Claire & Rob.

Have fun on your lone weekend. We haven't managed to do that yet but we live in hope! This weekend we are away with two extra children, we must be doing something wrong.

We were nervous the first time we towed abroad but we went with some experienced friends and just followed them. It's great for the children, they think of the journey as part of the holiday, an extra two/three days at either end. We have been to northern Italy twice and last year we went to Spain, near Barcelona. It does take a while to build up enough confidence though.

Lianne
