Hi. Just dived in and here I am.

We have a 1992 Bessacar and tow it with either a lwb Isuzu Big Horn or a Chevrolet G20 Day van!

We have been all over the Uk and into Europe, and have ended up with a caravan after tents, then a trailer tent, then a small Bailey now the bigger Bessacar!

hi chris, welcome and im glad that someone is on here from dorset way because i want to go down there this year and want to know about poole, wareham, weymouth etc.

Jo-anne - although we are from south Wales we thoroughly enjoy the Poole area of Dorset. We generally stay at Pear Tree Farm site in Sandford (quiet no nonsense site - not "hi-de-hi"). The only trouble we find with this area is that we don't want to come home. Incidentally if you see any postings from Plotter regarding Studland Beach - IGNORE them. He has a wicked sense of humour regarding this beach because some time ago I made a posting of the beauty of the area.
 
colin, thanks for your advise i have got the dvd of coast on that area from bournemouth to plymouth and it just looks so beautiful. im hoping for a week at wareham cc site in feb and maybe may then the kids hols im hopefully gonna be brave and do dorset, devon and cornwall in 3 weeks fingers crossed.

i have always fancied dorset beacuse you have got bournemouth, poole, weymouth, swanage, the harbours, all the beaches, and all the museums. theres just so much for the kids to do and see. i want to go right now.

anymore info would be great.

Poole is a fantastic place - the town, the harbour, the neighbouring scenary - it has it all. If you go to Poole in the summer season take an evening trip around the harbour, I believe it is Thursdays, and watch the fireworks from the boat and not the quay. Also drive around Studland and use the ferry to cross to Sandbanks - one of the dearest property areas in the UK. Studland beach is a nature reserve but be wary as part of the beach towards the ferry end is a nudist beach and there are often funny goings on in the sand dunes. Swanage is also a very pleasant seaside town with good beaches and plenty to do. Corfe Castle and the Blue Pool are also worth a visit as well as Lulworth Cove. The Military Tank Museum is at Bovington on the road from Wareham to Wool and again is well worth a visit.

Visit Dorchester and use the Park & Ride facility at Tesco - far easier than parking in town.

There is so much to see and do in the Poole area that you will not find time to go far afield. I am sure that whether you are young or old you will enjoy the area.

I like Poole as well, I regulary travel down to Monkey World & stay in Poole & like to have a look round Swanage, Bournemouth & Poole.
 
hi thanks colin, i might just check it out in feb kids hols. i know it wont be that warm and things might not be open but id like to see the beaches and harbour even if it is col.

have you stayed at hunters moon site?.

Jo-anne as it is now just my wife and self we generally stay at Pear Tree Farm in Sandford (just outside Wareham). It is a quiet relaxing site and spotless. It is just what we "oldies" like nowadays. The village pub is a short walk away and they do excellent pub food and have a children's area. We have only stayed here or Sandford PArk when our children came with us - this site is now too big for us and very commercialised - as I say not for us "oldies".
