Are you considering any caravan in particular?
 
Welcome to the forum. If you have had a caravan over 30 years you must have plenty to add.
What are you looking at for a retirement caravan?
 
If you are able get along to one of the shows and see what is available in newer vans - no comparison with 30 years ago! Have a potter around different vans to view layouts and facilities then create a shortlist of what would suit, then either locate new or second hand that fit the bill (metaphorically and literally!) Also start with the kerbweight of your proposed tow vehicle and aim for a van that will be around the 85% mark - not a hard and fast rule, but in general the heavier the car/the lighter the van the easier the tow!
