Hello

New member and very new to caravanning( hav,nt bought a van yet)!

Have been driving husband, kids and myself mad with my search. I have been using the forums for much!!!! needed advice trying to resist just going out and buying the first one I see.Head full off caravans, boss full of frowns in my direction. So great to find a site such as this with so much experiance out there. May sound sad but Iam very excited about getting our first caravan.

You go girl! husband will be converted when you get your van, trust me, mine was!

Good luck in your search, if you have any questions, however daft they may seem, just ask 'cos someone will be able to advise you!

Welcome J

Good Luck with caravanning.

My husband & I are in our 5th year and still exhuberant and excited about it. Cant wait to get ours out next week for the first outing of the year to Cornwall !

Take time looking for your first van ( says she who bought 2 vans on impulse! but happy with both of them.

You will walk into a van and know it is the one for you.

All the best and many happy years caravanning.

Hi J

I am sure you will enjoy caravanning but try and find out as much as you can before buying your first one, it is a big expense if you buy one that does not suit you. Some people hire the first times if you can find a good deal and that way you can try different set ups. Others just look around and with advise from friends buy the one they feel at home in, you do get a feeling like buying a house when you go into some caravans that it is jsut for you!

The other thing is the size of caravan you can tow with your car. They are many on the forum who can help you with that one.

Anyway I hope that you find the right caravan and have many happy years like the rest of us. Your children will enjoy the experiences.

Welcome J.

One bit of advice from someone who has been caravanning for hundreds of years.

Try to convince him and the children that it's their idea. that way you are home and dry. Thats how we converted from Spanish packages and a tent.

Also get the van/car weights right and most other problems are solvable.

Go to a few dealers, look at lots of vans, new and used decide how much you want to spend and that the van is within your cars weight limits. If used make sure it is serviced and damp free.

Join the caravan club, fill your fridge with wine and you will never look back, this is our third year vaning, cant get away enough and its a very cheap way of holidaying.

We often go to Clumber park at weekends only 50 minutes from home but could be a hundred miles away!

Go for it!! caravaning is cool!!
