We went to France this year had a great time, due to work hours cut+overtime ban, exchange rate etc, decided to stay uk for next summer,in the past we have been to cornwall, dorset, pembrokeshire, hereford,

We have 2 children one toddler one 12yr old, both like beach but not bothered about organised entertainment,so don't want all singing site,we are thinking of heading up to Scotland/Northumberland way or doing a tour of the two.

We are hoping you out there may be able to give us advise if possible of any good sites/areas that you have visited in this part of the uk or others.

Thanks Nicola.

Hi Nicola

How long are you going for and how many hitches and pitches per week do you prefer?

Cheers

Hi Andrew

As this is your first Scottish trip I'd suggest you restrict yourself to two sites.

Pitlochry is a fine Perthshire old town with plenty to do and see. I'd stay at Blair Castle Caravan site.

Week two I'd have the lovely drive along Loch Laggan towards Fort William . South of Fort William is the CC sire , Bunree,. Also you are very close to Glencoe and day rips to Isle of Mull.

Enjoy.

Cheers

Hi Alan

we have decided to visit Scotland and have booked to go to the Bunree site, for 1 week in August, then we are having a week in the Yorkshire Dales. We want to spend a day at Loch Ness, and also do a day trip to Mull. do you know if they allow dogs on Mull?

Sorry another question how bad are the midges likely to be at that time of year?

Cheers

Yes you can take your dog to Mull.

The midges will enjoy your dog as much as you. As to how bad they will be that is impossible to say as they change with the climate and weather.

Dogs are ok!! Odd question??

Midges have only ever bothered me once and that was in 1974 at Castle Sween Camp site Argyll.

The good news is there is a "midge watch" site you can check every day now.

We like Pitlochry too - obviously no beach but it is central for many places in the Highlands - we stay at Milton of Fonab Caravan site as its walking distance into the town and the dam and salmon ladder - also like Caravan Club at Dalchalm (Brora) walk across golf course onto deserted beach - also recommend Caravan Club Edinburgh and their Bunree site - I believe their Onich site near Oban is also by the beach but not been there yet unfortunately
