help fridge problem

friend of mine has a problem with his fridge could anyone help please. His gas system will not function gas will light up when gas button is pushed in and igniter pressed.After over 30 seconds gas button is released and flame goes out.Same occurs after numerous Attemps flame still goes out. New jet cappilary tube and magnetic switch fitted without any success caravan 1981. Any suggestions why flame will not continue to burn would be appreciated.

Try pulling knob off then pushing spindle in by hand for 10 seconds whilst igniting. If it lights and stays lit then the knob has slipped too far onto the spindle so put a small piece of packing in the knob to stop it going on too far in future.

Please refer to my long response there but in general with such an old fridge it should be checked by a competent gas fitter. There are numerous reasons why it might fail at 24 years old.

For your safety and Peace of mind a competent fitter will also have insurance to cover his/her work.
