Help in Fixing Draught Skirt Wheel Arch Cover

We bought a brand new 'van last year and have failed in trying to fix the wheel arch cover to the caravan bodywork using velcro. I dont want to drill holes in the panels for the poppers/studs as this will invalidate the warranty. Any suggestions or does anyone know where I can get industrial strength, outdoor velcro in white? Have you tried using some rubber suction pads.

I agree with x11, suction hooks are the way to go...

The wheel arch skirt usually comes with custom holes for said suction pads which, btw, work fine.

we used velcro and when we pulled the bits off when they went black wth dirt the residue was really tough.took most of an afternoon to get the marks off.weve now got suckers from kleeneze and put eyelets in the awning bit works fine

I stuck my poppers on with the Isabella fixing kit,10 popper backs solvent cleaner araldite real easy to do.

I had to drill a small hole through the centre of each eyelet and then used suction pads from Wilkinsons - which cost about 50p for 3.

What make of 'van did you buy?

Most of the new Bailey's have a hidden groove, like an awning rail, within the trim over the wheel arch. Just a thought otherwise the advice given to you so far is excellent.

Hi everyone, many thanks for your useful suggestions. The caravan is an Abbey Expression 550 (a Vogue 540 special edition jobby). Thinking about it (the caravan is back in storage now after a week in Cornwall, so can't check right now), I think there are some kind of eyelits in the plastic wheel arch - any idea if they are removable/used for securing the cover? cheers Brian

I use the above suction cups no need to mark caravan or put holes in awning skirt.

Been using suction suckers with a wire type hook but just bought a card of 16 from Tesco with 4 large, 4 medium and 8 smaller suckers with plastic hooks to use this year

Cut out a piece of plywood or hardboard and slide this in between the wheel and the wheel arch. Neat and tidy and does a better job.

cant do that with our bailey wheel is so close to the outside works well if you can get it in.

I Use a 1" thick piece of foam rubber cut to the appropriate size and covered it in plastic this can then be pushed in-between the wheel and arch and seals the gap well.

Best tip I ever got, was to use Blue Tack thro' the eyelets. Works a treat, and no marks!

thanks for all your comments. I bought some rubber suction pads off ebay and they worked a treat. All traces of velcro now gone and it looks really tidy! thanks again, Brian
