I WILL GIVE YOU A BRIEFING FIRST..

IM 26 AND JUST PURCHASED A CARAVAN ABOUVE FOR ME AND MY WIFE, IT WAS VERY CHEEP (£156) AND NEEDS A LOT OF WORK.

IT IS DAMP INSIDE ALL THE CUPBOARDS ARE PEALING AND SMALL LEAKS ARE VISABLE.

ON MY WAY HOME FROM COLLECTING IT I WAS OFFERED £700 FROM A GUY IN THE SERVICE STATION FOR THE CARAVAN (AS HE THOUGHT IT TO BE A CLASSIC ) - I HAD NO IDEA?? I TURNED DOWN THE OFFER AS I WOULD LIKE TO RENOVATE IT MYSELF. (HE THEN TOLD ME IF I RESTORE IT CORRECTLY (SPEND ABOUT £500) IT WOULD BE WORTH A FEW THOUSAND - IS THIS TRUE?)

I HAVE RENOVATED HOUSES BUT NOT A CARAVAN - ANY TIPS? I HAVE NO IDEA ESPECIALLY WITH THIS TYPE OF VAN, HOW WOULD I RESTORE IT TOO ITS BEST AND NOT DEVALUE THE LONG TERM AIM. - WITH ANY OF OUR OWN IDEAS FOR THE INTERNAL.

HAS ANYONE GOT ANY PICTURES/ BOOKS OF THIS MODEL

THANKS LOADS

Hi,Just a couple of points posting in capitals is against forum etiquette as it is considered to be shouting!

You dont say what model etc the caravan is,if it is in as bad a condition as you describe I suspect it would be a major job to carry out and far beyond the capability of most.A potential problem you will experience is availabilty of spare part etc so having them specifically made I would have thought and I am no expert would push the cost way beyond

Sorry about caps,

the make is a 'Royale T125' , i lost one of the outside cabin doors on the motorway also (gutting)

it has been services for brakes and tyres and has a new towing device attached, the wheels are fine, and the axcel.

the worst part is damp inside (i plan too take all windows out and reseal) i then plan to remove all cupboards etc and to remove all the ply and timbers and place new. Should i keep the existing cupboard or would it be ok for me to put new? (is this not part of restoring?)

cooker/fridge/sink are all the original and also look and work fine.

I pressure washed the external yesterday and it blasted the debris from the van however it still has spots of black (set in damp) on the roof how would i clean these off and also how would i get the shite back on the caravan as it looks very dull ?

thank you again

lewis
