Never camped there although I do know people who go there quite frequently and they seem to like it.

Have used the pool which has some good slides but it can be crowded and even non visitors have to pay to use it.

I can understand the reason for requesting observations about caravans, holiday sites, dealers, etc. but is it fair to ask? If an adverse comment was to be made could the offended party sue the contributer for libel/slander, deformation of characture, loss of business, etc.? Where would PC stand in this situation as providers of the forum? The reason I ask is that when adverse comments were made some time ago regarding an insurance company "*&*" the plug was pulled on the entire posting under instructions from PC. Is this going to lead to a similar wipe out by the mods.? I have been to some excellent sites but also to some sites which I would never contemplate going to again. Likewise I have had many an up and downer with a large electrical retail outlet which I would never recommend again so it is not just our interest in caravanning but the whole spectrum of the service industry.

Weve found Hendra very crowded and noisy and expensive, there are lots of good sites near Newquay, depends what you want, if you dont need a pool and entertinment Porth beach is Hendras sister site and directly opposite the beach with a good pub acrooss the road next to the beach.

This is just my opinion though.

Mairi,

It sounds as though the Hendra hasn't changed much over the years, but I stayed there many moons ago with a trailer tent and found it very busy and brash.

We found a lovely, smaller site a few minutes away from the Hendra, which was family run and was strict in that teenage groups, same sex groups etc were not allowed.

It perfectly suited my young family at that time, as well as being close to some excellent surf beaches for me.

We ended up returning year after year even after moving on to caravans, however 3 years ago we found that the site had changed ownership and the standards had dropped a bit.

Numerous vehicles were being allowed on each pitch and it seemed as if a lot of seasonal workers were being allowed use of the site.

On leaving, I complained to the company and on priciple, have not returned to see if the site has improved, but if you are nearby it may be worth popping in to check, because if it has returned to it's former standards, it is a lovely little site.

The site is now called Riverside (formerly Gwills) and it can be found by turning left out of the Hendra, taking the next left past the Lane Theatre and after about half a mile, taking a right.
