Hereford Camping & Caravan Club Site

Just booked a few days at this site, first time we have stayed at a Camping & caravan Club site (usually CC or CLs)as we only joined this club last year.

Has anyone stayed there, what's it like, also suggestions of things to see and do in the area. Husband a keen fisherman and I understand there is fishing on the site.

Hi Tobago , why dont you give Lucksall caravan park a try , its along side the river wye ,and the fishing is superb ,just 15 mins from Hereford town centre

Lucksall is affiliated to the caravan club but you do not have to be member to stay there , the pitches are large you can ask for a riverside pitch ,although its only 15 mins by car to the centre of Hereford ,you will get the feeling you are in the middle of the country ,in fact i shall be there when they first open in March , you can get fishing permits from reception for

I think that they were asking what the site is like rather than looking for an alternative

If the response was to me Parksy I wasn't offering an alternative. I was trying to help a fellow caravanner whose hubby likes fishing and a lot of people, myself included, check out sites in whatever area of the country they are in. The site I quoted is only a few miles away from Tarrington as is my home. The difference being is I've stayed at Lucksall and can speak with authority about it but again, although only a few miles from my home I've never visited the Hereford Camping & Caravan Club Site except in the middle of the night whilst attending a 999 call.

In a recent post I tried to help someone regarding Poolsbrook and Skegness Sands, two sites I haven't stayed at but visited whilst at Sherwood Forest Country Park.

If your post was made because of your response in another thread regarding the C&CC you couldn't be more wrong.

There are many times when posts have been made regarding fishing sites and I've responded with both Winchcombe and Ebury Hill, both C&CC sites but neither are in the Hereford area.

Have stayed on this "franchised" club site. Excellent, very friendly and helpful owners. Excellent fishing lake caught a really good carp last time I was there. Usually quite a few keen fishing types who go to this site on a regular basis. Facilities very clean. There is a railway fairly close to the site but it never bothered us. This site use to be called "The Millpond" before becoming a club site.

You won't be disappointed.

I stayed at Hereford site for a week last year and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The wardens are fantastic, site lovely and clean, facilities excellent. There is a very good dog walk on site - even if you don't have a dog it's worthwhile walking round it as it takes you round the back of the very large pond. I understand the fishing is very good too. Hope this helps. Ruth.
