Hillhead CC site,south devon

Thinking of going to this site from scotland in july this year,any comments re site? plus info re-narrow roads into site or other hazzards etc?

James, we took our granson to Hillhead last June / Aug just after the heavy flooding in the Midlands. The site has a lot of grass pitches which can be muddy in wet weather as we found out when we arrived. We requested a move to an hard standing when one came available and that wasn't a problem. The roads in from the M5 arn't a problem but can get very busy depending on when you are going, its a very popular area. The pegs are closer together than most other CC sites but this reflects its previous private status. You may need a high tv mast, if you watch tv when away, as the site is slopeing and terraced. The club and swimming pool are fine with lots going on every evening. Our grandson loved the paddling pool and play area. There is a games room which is aimed at the older ones 7-14ish but nothing for 5 or under but that didn't stop out 3yr old. Brixham and the Torbay area are very nice and are worth a visit. If going to Dartmouth, get the bus, just outside the Club entrance, to the ferry terminal as parking in Dartmouth is at a premium.

Hi

We were at Hillhead cc last year, returning again this year. Agree with what has already been said, the site also an area for skateboarding, and a playing field next to the play area, space for flying kites, playing football etc. There is a Spa shop on site selling a range of things, food, newspapers, cold white wine and beer, swimming googles, things for the kids etc. There is also a takeaway on site.

The site does slope, some pitches are easier to get on than others, the wardens will put you on with a tractor. Some pitches have lovely views. The site does get busy, we have been there over a bank holiday lots of kids and busy. The toilet blocks are usual cc high standards, and have several disabled toilet and showering rooms.
