Hitch lock when travelling

Hi All,

Can anyone confirm that you can travel with the Winterhoff hitch lock in place, i think ive read it somewhere but would like to make sure.

regards

Ger

Technically no problem at all with RobStop lock in place, but safety is another issue. Would not advise under any circumstances driving with lock in place, if vehicle was in accident and needed to be uncoupled quickly you can see this would have a serious issue.

As the lock is so quick and easy to put in place I just travel with mine to hand and as soon as I park and want to leave the outfit, just click in place.

I have to agree, I've always traveled with the locking pin in our Al-Ko hitch but i think i'll stop this now, in light of advice from people on this forum.

I'll just keep the pin handy and pop it in if we leave the outfit parked up.

Another trick i use is to carry my battery drill with a corner steady tool in it in the car.

I gun the rear legs down and snap the pad locks through the ends of the tubes that the steady nuts live in. [i think they origionaly had pins and pad locks but i've just used long pad locks.]

With the rear legs down getting it unhitched will be a hassel.

Hi Ger

Don't do it!

I did and lost my lock somewhere on the road between Somerset and Cornwall.

Only use it when you are stationary.

Learn by my expensive mistake!
