Honda CRV.Sliding rear seats backwards and forwards

Hi.

Well ive got the Honda and everythings fine except I cant seem to slide the rear seats backwards and forwards.

The hand book says "Lift bar under the seats, and adjust seats to desired position".(Basically the same as the front seats I presume).

Am I mmissing something here, because they wont budge.

Maybe there is something else that has to be done first before they will move.

Hopefully someone here can help.

Many thanks.

Adrian

Sorry Adrian, i'm at a loss to understand why, unless there's something jammed against the seats. There isn't much movement but the seats should slide quite easily. Hope you sort it.

Regards...Derek

I have a 2007 Honda CRv, newer shape, and the rear seats will not slide if they are not clipped down properly. Sometimes I have to pull the release tab lift the seat and then push firmly down. The position of the back rest can also effect the slide adjuster.

Hello George&Ade,

I have a CRV with the same problem. The passenger side rear seat slides but the drivers side rear doesen't. I have tried tilting the seat and removing as much trim as possble but still haven't been able to free it.

The Haynes book describes how to remove the seat, I will probably try this next.

Hi Tony.Yes,ive managed to get the rear passenger seat to slide but not the other side.

The one thing I have found out is that I have to remove the spare wheel cover in order to hitch up to the caravan.

We collected our van yesterday, and found that by removing the cover,it gives me about 1 inch extra room needed to hitch up.

Its the red handle of the stabiliser thats the problem.

I think there is a rather expensive bar you can buy to fit to the top of the handle to overcome this problem,or the dealer said I could also unscrew the red handle when hitching/unhitching.

I think I will just stick to removing the wheel cover.

Adrian.

Hello George&Ade,

I had another go at my seat this morning and managed to get it to work. The complete seat did come out without much bother but it didn't do me any good. The release mechanism was not accessable. The advice from David.R about making sure the seat bottom is latched worked in the end. I tilted the seat and worked the mechanism a few time and eventually the seat slid backwards and forwards.

I have a Witter detachable towbar fitted. The stabiliser handle just clears the wheel cover. Have you tried removing the red handle, connecting the van and then pushing the stabiliser handles down individually? I don't know whether this is good practice but it may work.

Tony

Hi Tony,thanks for the reply.

I think its going to be a case of perseverence until I master it...ha ha.

Ive got the Witter detachable swan neck too but unfortunatly, with the wheel cover in place,I need about 1 inch extra room.

I could try undoing the screw as you suggested, but it isnt really much hassle to just unzip the cover.

Thanks again

Adrian
