Sorry to hijack your message Clive but interested in replies you get as we are travelling to ElvastonPark CC site Derby from Somerset next week so will be looking for a couple of stops.

Strencham north is ok but wondered about Hopwood as well.

Next on M42 is Tamworth, any good? and what about M1?

This is our longest trip after 4 years caravanning, normally we limit to a couple of hours drive so this will be our first time for motorway stop (with a van that is)

Just found this, motorway parking for caravans gives you an idea of what they are like, i would also google there post code on google maps, to find how to get into the parking area, before you end up back on the motorway...

We used these services yesterday (Saturday) on our way to Cornwall. We were impressed. The parking allocated for caravans is not in with the HGVs but in the main car park. The bays are a little narrow but the amenities are easy to get to. We were there at 10am and although it was busy it didn't feel to crowded. Access from the motorway was easy, but there was no sign for caravans as you enter the services (head for main car park), but then the signposting is obvious. We will use these on return journey in 2 weeks. Hope this helps.

hopwood park is very good for caravans and has a decent size dog walk too but we have been when part of the car park (including the caravan area) has been closed and used as a coach drop off transfer area. you then end up in with the hgv's.
