Hot water cycles in shower

Hi,

I resently took delivery of a Swift Charisma 550, which has a rear bathroom. When I use either the hot water in the sink or the shower (in the bathroom) the pump 'cycles'; i.e. it comes on and off about every two to five seconds. I have to partially open the cold water tap to stop this happening. Any ideas ??

Thanks,

Trevor

Hello Trevor,

You pump is controlled by a pressure switch that is connected to the cold water supply in the caravan. When you open a tap. the pressure in the pipe drops causing the pump to turn on until it can make up the pressure to cause it to turn off.

There is obviously not enough flow through the taps and shower to keep the pressure in the pipe work down so the pump will run continuously.

Most pressure switches have some adjustment, so you may be able to slightly increase the cut off pressure, in the hope that when you shower the pump will continue to run, but you must make sure that when all the taps are closed the pump does turn off, otherwise it will burn out.
