Hmmm, turns out having asked what I thought was a stupid question has in fact opened up a bigger debate. It seems to me that it has not really been considered by the caravan manufacturers. Surely all it needs is a drain away tap that one could use to drain away any excess liquid. I understand about not emptying but travelling with up to 15 litres of pink water may impose a weight problem on some, or if the tank is at the rear could cause some instability.
