How does Powertouch Motor Mover cope with different surfaces

There is quite a bit of information on these forums about Powertouch mover, but very little detail about the types of surfaces that it is operated on. I would be grateful if owners would post their experiences - good and bad about this.

have been on long grass,wet ground,shingle,hard gravel standing.unlevel pitch where had to run near side up on ramp and it coped outstandingly.i have no doubts about my powrtouch mover whatsoever

Hi Geoff, Same as Klarky I've used mine on various surfaces & gradients including a drop-kerb to enter my drive. Also moved from 1 pitch to another on site, up a slope on gravel then reversed onto sloping hard standing pitch before raising 1 side on leveling ramp. Quite a test which I must admit, I was sceptical about before doing it, but the Powrtouch coped admirably. I would have no reservations about recommending them to anyone, and in fact have done so many times on this forum.

yes they are absolutely brilliant,have recommended the powrmover to all that ask.

even done a demonstration at derbyshire site,and all were overwhelmingly impressed.only price tag that was the bug bear, as all said they would have one only the price at the time was out of their range,pity really,they hopefully in time will come down in price.

Cost is not the only issue. I've been offered a Powrmover at a really attractive price but I'd have serious problems with weight and this has prevented me from going ahead with buying one. My wife has the habit of wanting to take everything but the kitchen sink with her on holiday and the 30 or so extra kilos of the Mover plus the significantly heavier battery that I'd need would reduce the available payload capacity of the caravan to an unacceptable level.

I now have used my powrtouch mover on: 1 - Gravel getting van from storage and onto hardstanding pitch, both fairly level with no problems. 2 - I have moved the van into position on 3 CL sites 2 hard standing and 1 grass the grass pitch was on a gradient and the mover moved the van up the incline slowly but surely. The only problem was when levelling the van across the wheels when you had to slowly move the van up the van as the other wheel tended to want the van to pivot on the wheel offering least resistance, however with a bit of experience can now do this with no problem. Incidently I use the vans 100amp battery for power to the mover.

have a quiet or loud!!!! word with the wife lutz,and try moving some weight to the car to compensate,beleive me you wont regret it

You don't know what I've already got in the car - the awning, groundsheet, TV + Sat receiver, microwave, 2 bikes (it's a 4x4 so they can go inside), a selection of reading and viewing material that would do a small library proud, 2 deckchairs, half the contents of the larder because the 'best before' date expires while we're away, +, +, +.

STUART, We have the powertouch mover fitted to our ace celebration 590 (equirry) we have found it to be perfect for our needs which entaill moving the van up our drive which is around a 1 in 10 gradient and through a gap between the house and garden wall which gives us about an inch either side of the van. the mover copes perfectly the soft start being very usefull. we previously had a powertouch on our coachman laser and prior to that our coachman vip, the only reall disadvantage with a twin wheel is that it takes a lot more effort to turn the van as the mover has to scrub the rear wheels round, we did ask about having it fitted to the rear wheels so we could lift the front ones but glossop caravans refused saying it would be too heavy at the rear of the van. all in all a very worthwhile investment if you need one, 10 / 10.

Hi Geoff,

We have to take our 'van through between 2 houses with about 3" clear each side. The houses are not level and the 'van has to be inched and turned almost on a sixpence. Without the powrtouch we probably would not be able to caravan, no way could we man-handle through the gap without wrecking it. Powrtouch is worth every penny it cost and the couple of small problems we have had with it (in 3 years) was promptly sorted by an engineer at our home free of charge. I think its wonderful!

I have a powertouch fitted to a 2005 swift conquerer - its brilliant. The new model for twin axles vibrates the caravan practically on its axis. I have used on grass gravel and tarmac with ease. Have not yet used on a gradient but am reassured it will cope with 1:4. The soft start is excellent. I had fitted to front wheels as it meant not having to lose the jacking points on the Al-Ko chassis and re-locating the spare wheel carrier. It has added about 3Kgs to the nose weight but this is compensatable with careful loading and is well worth it for the absolute convenience. The engineer who fitted it was excellent too.
