Saturday 20th Dec 2025. Switched TV on Wheeler Dealers and what car are they restoring a DOLOMITE SPRINT, They are saying that it was superior to the MK 1 Escort Mexico,
Also watched this morning it was great seeing it done up and a race between Elvis and Mike on the circuit in the cars .
 
Some 50 years ago we went for a picnic on the bank of Coniston Water, in my Triumph Herald 1250. Very peaceful warm day when it was interrupted by one of these:-

It came rumbling into the picnic site making a grand entrance. I thought then, what a beauty .

Fast forward to now, an advert kept cropping up selling one. Couldn't help myself. went to have a look, it's 48 years old, and with a few tweaks to the engine it is very reliable and looking brand new.
Well I bought it, it sits in my garage now, roll on spring.
might take it back to that picnic site.

My Triumph Herald 1250 (my first car) rusted away to nothing in no time, not many of them left now.

P.S. Would make a poor tug though.

In that case make sure that the cooling system is 100% up to scratch
Yes , that was the point of the Thread. " How it failed." It was a flawed motor, beautifully designed apart from the engine, with it's over heating problems, and others,
Now 50 years on with a couple of modifications, it is what the original designers dreamed of.
I have a 1977 Staaaag that has these modifications with the Triumph V8 engine, more than a match for the Rover V8.
It is a great car to own.
It is a plus for the Stag, when you consider 49% of the production still exists. either taxed or sorn. So the rover variant is in it's self is flawed as it it does not have the original engine.

My best man had a post war Riley 1.5 litre and massaged an Truimph TR 5 engine in to it, but retained its original engine for if he wanted to sell it as original.
