How often do you use your Bailey?

Whilst out on the road we seem to see more Bailey Caravans than almost anything else.

We are interested to know how many times a year you use your caravan?

Do you just go on summer holidays or are you ardent rallyers who are away every weekend?

Please let us know

Friends of ours use their bailey pageant vendee every weekend.

They also spend the whole summer in the van touring on the continent and as far as we know they have not had one problem with it.

We're very happy with our Series 5 Senator Virginia. Despite the lack of basin in the bathroom, we prefer it to the Series 6 version. To answer your question, we have a month in France every June, but also have another two separate weeks in Spring/Autumn. On top of that we try to take alternate weekends from February through to October/November. Rallying is something we haven't tried so far, mainly because we like to hook up to the electrics, which is something not usually provided on rally sites. Hope this is of some use.

Last year we had 22 trips in our Bretagne, 3 of those included ferry journey from Irl. This year so far we have been out 6 times. going away for month of july also.

It might be in a new Bretagne .....if only we could see a proper picture of one somewhere on the web. Please Mr Nick Howard can you fix it for me!!!

Nick,

Our answer has to be "Not often enough" !

We try to get a few weekend breaks in during the year, followed by a couple of week long breaks at half terms and obviously our longer summer break, usually in Cornwall or Devon, but this year will be the Vendee, Fr.

We also managed an extra break last summer to fit our caravanning & fell walking honeymoon in (Far better than lazing it up on a beach).

Not wanting to wish our lives away, but....'roll on retirement',

Apart from taking our Pageant to Europe for our main getaway we go to CL's at least 8 times a year. Hopefully it will be more often this year.

We bought our 460/4 in November and used it most weekends through the winter from early December to late March. We had a weekend away fairly close to home about a month ago to practise putting up our new awning and plan a two week break in Lincolnshire in June. We also have two weeks planned in September with no destination yet plus a few weekends fairly close to home. We've never done rallys or been abroad with any of our previous vans as it's just too far from North Scotland and takes too long.

By the way, we love our van but wish it had a u-shaped lounge and larger scatter cushions!

Hi Nick,

I haven't had a Bailey yet - Im (im)patiently waiting for the new Bretange to arrive at our local dealers. (BTW any idea when that is likely to be).

We usually would get away 10 weekends a year plus our 4 week holiday in July.

Really missing the caravan this year - we sold our old one at the end of last season to buy a Bretagne, then seen the talk about the new models and decided to hold fire. Starting to regret that fact now.

Hi Nick,

We have just purchased our first Bailey caravan a 540/6. We have only had it two weeks and have been out every weekend with itand intend to do so every weekend until the summer when the school break up and then we will be out in it for the whole six weeks, and then back to every weekend again.

And I have to say its a brillant van and is perfect for us.

Hi Nick

As another posted, not enough! We are on Bailey number 5, a Series 6 Snaotor Wyoming, which we love. So far, been away eight time since last November for trips between 3 and 7 days. Off this weekend for another trip, 2 weeks in France in July and another week in Cornwall in August.........and that's before we book more weekends away.

Prior to this 'van we had a Series 5 Indiana - super 'van. In the year we owned it, we had equal to 7 weeks holidays and we lived in the 'van full time for 4 and a half months whilst our bungalow was being renovated!!!

Expect we will be having a look at Senator 7...............but can you give me time for my bank balance to recover please?!

Hi Nick

we have a series 5 pageant moselle & try to get away every other weekend & three weeks split up at different times of the year, mainly when the schools are not off.

we have been thinking about changing to a wyoming as I like the idea of fixed bed & end bathroom, but @ the moment money & fuel costs make us keep what we have for now.

Hi Nick, odd question but at the mo we have a series 5 pageant provence and like others its mainly weekends with a summer week thrown in.

Please read this: Giving caravans numbers i.e series 5,6,7 is that not a bit like car registration, it makes an earlier number sound old pretty soon, even when its only 2 years old therefore devaluing it.

People with series 6 vans must be really peed off !!

Regards

John

I don't have a Bailey but there are plenty in our local CC centre that use theirs most weekends.

One of our friends/relations has just bought the new Carolina .

As this also happens to be your local centre why don't you contact us or come along to one of the rallies.

I would have thought setting up a stand at the Balloon fiesta rally would be helpful to all parties.

I am not a committee member but you could contact them from here

We have had our Ranger 550/6 for 3 years now. We use it for 5 full weeks each year plus about half a dozen weekends. Great van with no complaints at all.

Had a nosy around the local dealers last weekend to see what the new models were like. No change from what we already have to be honest so we will be sticking with our current model. Thats not a complaint by the way, more of a thumbs up for our current van.

Senator Louisiana Series 5 2007

Very pleased with caravan once the tasty water was fixed. Using dealers always seems to be a struggle.

Last year around 40 nighhts away.

Bank Hols 3-4 days, a few weekends.

1 Main UK hol for 2 weeks.

No winter breaks, mainly due to having teenager who needs something to offset the boredom

This year probably less as it's all getting so expensive, we'll only go when the weather is promissing or there is something specific to go for plus a main holiday

Looking forward to future years being free to do some proper touring for longer than 2 weeks, maybe taking the van abroad and out of season breaks at reasonable prices.

Awe go on, I actually like it when the season starts, brings the place to life.

We overlook Ladies mile, Daughter will be working there as usual as a life Guard, Little blondie called Louise.

Interesting CL up at Gulliford Farm. We had a look last weekend, 5 Caravans, Fishing lake, very tranquil spot, no traffic or noise, just sheep and horses.

Of course there's aways 'Cofton Country' which is very well kept has a good pool, good pub, very good fishing lots for the kids to do and all done reasonably tastfully, Expensive though.

Have a good one.

Switched from a Lunar Lexon EB to Senator Arizona Series 5 Autumn 2005.

Normally use it for three holidays per year (1 of 2 weeks and 2 of 1 week) plus 3/4 long weekends. Some years will also be used by my son and his family for a couple of weeks and locate it for my wife to use with grandchildren for a few days when I can not be off work.

Have been very pleased with the caravan and the only frustration has been the absence of condensation boards when using the caravan in the winter (I do not get to choose my holidays so can find myself with one of my week's holiday in early December or February at times).

I seem to have read somewhere that approx 45% of caravans sold recently were Baileys, so it is not surprising that you see a lot about.Where we have our seasonal pitch, I wake up to see at least 4 in the near vicinity.

Our 2000 Ranger (that was when Rangers were quite posh - almost Pageants) will spend 4 or 5 weekends and a couple of 10-day stays on CC sites this year.

No problems in 8 years...
