How to repair a kitchen worktop - dented :-(

Anybody got any tips for repairing a small hole/dent in the kitchen worktop in my brand new Bailey Series 6 Pageant Majestic? The hole was made when an empty tea-caddy fell from the locker above the sink and one of its corners landed on the worktop causing a dent/hole that is about the shape and size of a half hazelnut shell. The worktop material is only about 1mm thick at this point, hence the dent. Far too big a job to replace the worktop, I would have thought, but anybody got any magic cream that might fill and/or disguise the dent?

Incidentally, the tea-caddy fell because the plastic push-fit moulding along the front of the top shelf of the locker was never fixed at the factory. The lip would normally stop things sliding forwards off the shelf in transit, ready to fall the first time the locker door is opened when you arrive on site. On my van, the lip came off, allowing the tea-caddy to tumble out. None of the lips on any of the other overhead lockers have been fixed either and will all come off under the slightest of pressure. I have been in contact with Bailey but they won't even accept that it's their fault that the lip wasn't fitted properly. "The extrusion is a friction fit onto the shelves and has to allow for variances in ply tolerances," said their technical guy. So, even though it doesn't fit, doesn't do its job and my worktop has been damaged the response is basically, well. tough!

You could try a professional worktop repair company like - plastic surgeon at www.plastic-surgeon.co.uk - or if you like DIY and you are reasonably skilful, then a product like Colorfil (used to disguise the joints in worktops) may help.

The problem with DIY kits is the amount of material you need to buy if your worktop is multi-coloured...

I was wrong. Bailey's after sales service is brillianat.

In spite of the email that I quoted in my opening thread on this page, basically Bailey saying 'Tough!' I have now had a letter from them apologising for the problem and inviting me to book the caravan into my local dealership in order to have the damaged worktop replaced under warranty. What a result.

I am delighted to be able to post such a positive response FROM Bailey on this public forum. We are all very quick to point out bad service (me especially) so service as good as this DESERVES TO BE WRIT LARGE.

No, it's my brain that needs replacing under warranty. I still have a Monarch but every couple of days I get totally confused and refer to it as a Majestic. It is definitely a Monarch.

I no longer have the Picasso, I traded it in for a Nissan X Trail Columbia 2.2 diesel. Beautiful car and tows like a dream, sitting on the motorway at 60mph in 6th gear on cruise control - wonderful. A lot more thirsty than the Picasso though.
