hyundai santa fe 2.4 petrol

i am thinking about towing my van with one of these, a bailey auvergne, and if i have got the weight right 1.300 ton, will it do the job thanks.

I believe the max towing weight for the 2.4 petrol is 1400kg so you will be ok at 1300kg. Fuel consumption may be a bit on the heavy side though - I had a 2.4 petrol maverick and I was happy if I got 20mpg towing. Hopefully someone on the forum who tows with the same 4x4 will post a more accurate figure for you.

Sorry to disappoint you but the 2.4 petrol, for some reason or another, only has a 1200kg maximum permissible towload. (The diesel is rated at 1870kg and the V6 at 2300kg). So, despite a kerbweight of respectable 1700kg, you will not be able to tow the caravan legally.
 
Before you get worried, it's only the latest 2006 model that has a towload of only 1200kg (at least that's what the Hyundai website states). The previous one appears to be rated at 1400kg, as Cliff says. So, better check up first.

You are right Lutz, I should have looked on hyundai's site and not a road test by Honest John ( he lied to me!).

Seems very low to me for avehicle of this type. Perhaps the clutch is not up to it?

thanks for all your help, but 1 more question, i do admit i know nothing about cars, will a santa fe turbo diesel 2.0 pull my van legally
 
thank you lutz for your help,so i will be able to tow my bailey auvergne 5 berth van with the sante fe 2.0 T D turbo diesel 4w4, it is just that i want to be sure before i put a deposit on it tomorrow
