Hyundai Sante Fa towbar question??

Good morning everyone.

Iv just bought my self a brand new Sante fa premium 5 seater and really looking forward to driving the car. My car wont be delivered until august so have time to look for a tow bar to be fitted.

So i am going with witter as i like them and have had them on all my cars so never had a problem. The question is, fixed, swan neck or detachable??

What is the Sante Fa like to tow with?

The Santa Fe is a good tow car, IMO. I had a Witter fixed tow bar fitted by Hyundai, and as a lot of others , had problems with it dropping, it would pivot down on the bolts, Witters response to this was to fit higher tourque bolts. This was not the case with the Swan neck. I eventually changed my towbar to a Tow Trust one.

I have just returned from 2 weeks on Anglesey and I drive a 2015 santa fe auto with a witter detachable towbar towing a Coachman VIP 545/4 mtplm of 1670kg. Fully loaded car and van performed well with no problems. I was a little sceptical about detachable towbar as always had fixed on my tugs but, this performed well and easy to attach to car
The Santa Fe is an excellent towcar and you will enjoy your purchase, hope this helps you

I have a detachable Witter swan neck and have never had any problems in over 15000 towing miles.

The type of tow bar is just a matter of personal preference and cost. Basically the fixed ones cost least and you have to live with the appearance which some people dislike. The detachable costs most but you can take it off to make the back end look neater. The swan neck is somewhere in between on cost and appearance.
All work just as well and you simply have to decide what is best for you based on cost and style.
Do make sure you get a good branded one from a reputable fitter and make sure you get the correct plugs for your caravan and assuming the caravan has an ALKO stabiliser hitch a tow bar with the correct clearance.

Good afternoon

A quick question about the Santa fe electrics.

The Tow bar has now been fitted to my lovely new car. Today i have been to my caravan and the 12v not working, so my battery and fridge are not working off the car. So spoke to the fitters and they are going to sort that out tomorrow.
So the next issue i have is there is no indicator on my car to say a trailer is on the car, so dont have any dash board lights or indicator chimes. I spoke to Hyundai customer service about this and they have said that the santa fe does not have anything for towing. So what do i do?

I thought legally i had to have some sort of dash light of tone on the indicators??

What have the hyundai owners done to resolve this issue??
