HYUNDAI TUCSON

Kelvin

We tow with the Sportage which I think you'll find is virtually the same vehicle (Hyundai own Kia). 1450KG shouldn't be any problem for the 2 litre diesel 138bhp on either car. Our Sportage tows our Bailey P6 Burgundy no problem.

I think you'll find Hyundai qoute 1600 kgs for 2 litre diesel.

Kia have just upgraded the Sportage diesel with a 7 year warranty if you buy new and at the moment they're doing pretty good deals, they're absolutely stacked with kit.

You'll get about 32-34 mpg round town and 28-30 mpg towing.

Best regards

Hi Kelvin

I test drove a Diesel Tuscon about two years ago. I took it out for about 1/2 an hour and found it pretty gutless. It was enough to put me off buying one. I couldn't help but feel it would be dire with a van in tow.

Probably a nice little car, but not for me. I bought an Alhambra in the end.

Hi Dave

I think you'll find the Tucson has had an uprated engine since you drove it 2 years ago, also if you don't spin the motor up to around 1800 r.p.m when the turbo cuts in it'll probably feel gutless. If it's similar to the Sportage diesel it really comes on song with the turbo, hold it above 1800 and it tows a treat. Towed with a Fiat 1.9 t/diesel before and that came in progressively at about 1450 r.p.m.

Best regards

Tomo
