A couple of weeks ago DWP paid me £10 bonus, a Christmas Box to help pay for the festivities🙀
Jack Jones MP brought this bonus into payment back in the 70s. Relatively a good sum of money then. Today it barely buys two pints of beer.
I wonder why it's never been increased? Too much spending on Green things maybe🤪😉

Funny enough I got a tenner of them last week as well. Now I wonder how many shops I can frequent to spend it. 🤔

Not aware of that one and cannot recall receiving any notification. Have received my WFP but that will be recovered in full through tax.

PS just mentioned it to my wife and she says “ yes it comes in every year about this time”. Must take more notice of our domestic finances. 🤭

I have never heard of this, or ever received a payment. On looking at the long list of eligibility it mentions carers allowance. Which is new to us this year. But also,

State Pension (including Graduated Retirement Benefit)

So I think we should have been getting it.

Have I been conned?

They reckon £10 back then is equivalent to £180 today , nice .
Another one is the 25p paid to pensioners aged over 80 years, it was introduced in 1971, it says the 25p is equivalent to £6.50 today.

AFAIK all state pensioners get it.

Ours are just added to the weekly state pension amount, with no notification - for those on monthly state pension I guess it comes with the December payment.

Barely covers the cost of posting Christmas Cards. My ghast was flabbered this morning at the Post Office.

First Class £1.70 each and we were told they only just qualified for First Class. They were only small cards.

Perhaps a more project-led approach to your Christmas task list would enable you to use second class at 0.87p. I’m still “ suffering” from being the only Brit on a course where I made some lifelong friends. £3.40 for cards to go to Canada, US, Oz, India and Pakistan.
