In car cooling fan.

Looking for a really effective 12v cooling fan to mount inside the passengar area of a Kia Sedona - say on the dashboard. Tried two but they were hardly able to raise a whisper let alone a decent draught.

If anyone can recommend one I would be grateful.

I have 12 volt one spare like the one that the motorhomers use on the continent.

If you are anywhere Milton Keynes you can come and collect it
 
Could you explain the need as I've never understood why, even on cars without aircon.

Even very old cars like the Escort mk1 had dash mounted vents that you could direct to your face and adjust the temperature from hot to cold, as well as adjusting the fan speed. The cabin extractor vents were under the back window so there was always a throughput of fresh air.

What am I missing?
 
On grounds of safety, anything additional on the dashboard is not a very good idea. The car manufacturers go to great lengths to make sure that the dashboard provides adequate energy absorption in the event of a crash and this would be put to waste if a hard object is placed in between, especially if it has any sharp edges.

On motor homes the are usually mounted centrally between the sun visors and are the oscillating variety.

Alas the Sedona has vents which which really are not up to the job. A previous car, a Volvo 740 - was ideal in this situation though found to be lacking when stuck in a traffic jam in the south of France during the summer of 2003. The best ever solution was opening quarter lights in the front windows (Austin A40) - the sort of thing found on cars which also came equipped with starting handles both tend to be missing on newer cars.

My intention when I do get a fan is to mount it on the floor between the front seats aimed at the roof. The downwash will keep both front passengers cool in the same way that a fan aimed at the 'van roof wafts down to cool both front bunks.

Make uncertain as it was bought in France in a bubble pack.

It has a 6" diameter fan in a wire type safety cage and a switch to select oscillating/non-oscillating.

It wasn't expensive but really shifts the air!

Postage would probably cost more than the original purchase price.
