Is this getting ridiculous?

We’ve all heard of Easter goodies coming into the shops just after Christmas, but we have just received notification to purchase tickets for Westonbirt Arboretum’s Christmas Lights. This is commercialism gone mad. I don’t even know if I will have petrol by then and I am certainly not cycling along dark Gloucestershire lanes in December.

I had an email from the NT about the Christmas festivities at Stourhead a few weeks ago, inviting me to "Book Early"
It was deleted.

Have a look at the source data which will not only tell you where it went en route but also when.
That’s a bit extreme as the email itself was offering presale tickets for the Westonbirt 2026 Christmas Lights. So it’s hardly been hanging around in the ether since 2025. It’s a way of getting their hands on my cash for a nine month interest free loan. Whilst we like Westonbirt over the years it has become noticeably more commercial and changes to attract more visitors have been made in the wild Silk Wood. Play areas for children no less ! With areas being cleared and planted with decorative shrubs and trees. The formal arboretum is moving in to wild Silk Wood in order to cope with increasing visitor numbers that at times overpower the paths. But as members we still enjoy the place and can find quiet areas.
