How many are going to buy the 3Ltr diesel !! Why not test with the more popular 2Ltr.
And if they had tested the 2.0L model, there would be those asking why had they ignored the more powerful model - That's one of the problem with all reviews, there will always be someone who complains that their prefered model has not been looked at.
This is often a complaint leveled at the Tow Car of the Year program, the panel's final choice for the title is bigger than some want and not big enough for others!
But that's not the really the point of the exercise, it's not to make a definitive recommendation that will suit everybody, that plainly just not possible, It's to find the best of a bunch, taking into account not just its tow capacity but, a range of other things like comfort, economy, cost of ownership. For the consumer there is little value in the title of TCOTY unless its right for your needs, and in the context of Caravanning that will principally be determined by the weight category.
But then there is a winner for each category which I my mind is a more valuable test for prospective owners.
The title TCOTY is of more value to the car manufacturers who can put yet another sticker in the car windows on the forecourts.
