Jaguar F-Pace tow test

How many are going to buy the 3Ltr diesel !! Why not test with the more popular 2Ltr.

And if they had tested the 2.0L model, there would be those asking why had they ignored the more powerful model - That's one of the problem with all reviews, there will always be someone who complains that their prefered model has not been looked at.

This is often a complaint leveled at the Tow Car of the Year program, the panel's final choice for the title is bigger than some want and not big enough for others!

But that's not the really the point of the exercise, it's not to make a definitive recommendation that will suit everybody, that plainly just not possible, It's to find the best of a bunch, taking into account not just its tow capacity but, a range of other things like comfort, economy, cost of ownership. For the consumer there is little value in the title of TCOTY unless its right for your needs, and in the context of Caravanning that will principally be determined by the weight category.

But then there is a winner for each category which I my mind is a more valuable test for prospective owners.

The title TCOTY is of more value to the car manufacturers who can put yet another sticker in the car windows on the forecourts.

As mentioned before your summary table never mentions the road tax for the test vehicle. But I suppose if you can afford a car that expensive then you needn't worry. 🙁

After April 1st: 1st year - £500, subsequent years - £450. 😉

Given the choice I would rather have the Jag then pay the same sort of money for a tow vehicle that'll be a van with windows so that I can tow from my wheelchair.

At the end of the day what meets our needs at a price we can afford should be the moto.

It will be interesting about the New, Velar, By JLR, and see how it compares, miss my 2.25 petrol series 3, 4 WD but no fixed diffs, just had to keep plodding.

The reason is quite simple: Jaguar has only fitted a tow ball to its 3.0-litre model on the test fleet, so that was the only one we could do a full tow test with. To try to counterbalance this to some degree, we've also done a first drive of the 2.0-litre variant which you can read here and it's also linked to from the 3.0-litre variant test.

I hope that helps.

After 5 years it then becomes £140

I did see a post I think on another site by an unhappy owner who had the car but Jaguar had been unable to supply the tow bar he had ordered.
