Jaguar "X" Type

I have had a look at the What Towcar site and the diesel Jaguar is compatable with my caravan - Bailey 500/5. I am thinking of either a 2.0 litre or 2.2 litre turbo diesel. Has anyone any experience of towing with these cars? What insurance group are they? What is the new vehicle road fund tax grouping and how economical are they for both solo and towing purposes? Many thanks in anticipation.

If you have a look at Jaguar's website, all the technical information like fuel consumption and CO2 emissions rating should be on there.

Colin my dad has towed with both the 2.0D and 2.2D X-Type. The first a saloon now an estate.

Really happy with them towing an 03 Bailey Senator Oaklahoma, an 05 Oaklahoma and now an 08 Senator Virginia.

Both have been fault free.

I tow with an X-type 2.5 petrol. Its a very stable tow car & the petrol 2.5 & 3.0 have full time four wheel drive. They are thirsty though.

I've not driven a diesel but the 2.0 & 2.2 are the Ford units as fitted to the Mondeo so any comments from Ford owners in this area are applicable.
