Hi me again.

i would stick to a jeep dealership, look for dealer stamps in the service book as , it is esential they get the right oils. Interestingly non Jeep specialists are no cheaper in our neck of the woods. I would look for a diesel limited with factory fitted Sat nav. Regarding tow bars we opted for a brink removeable which a local fitter fitted for us, a lot cheaper than the Jeep bar.

Hi Andrew,

First I have been on the site for a while and noticed your recent posts.

Jeeps own website has an excellent search facility for approved used. Its worth a look as price for similarly spec'd models can vary significantly depending on the dealer.

Would agree with Del's comments. I have 3.0 CRD Limited and prior to this had the 3.0 CRD. The increased spec makes it a far better car to own and helps tone down the feel of the interior plastic.

Personal thing though, is although I have the factory fitted sat nav it is not very user friendly - tend to use my touch screen Tom Tom more often than not.

Great car to tow and live with day to day. Our van has an MTPLM of 1900kg which the Jeep more than comfortable handles - even on steep inclines.

I agree that the factory fitted Sat nav isnt the most user friendly, the reason I recomend it is because of the 6CD multi that comes with the factory Sat nav,

Del,

Have you had any problems with interferance on the radio reception?

At present I cannot get MW (missing TalkSport!) and often have to re-tune on FM. Wasn't a problem in the previous Cherokee, however this only had a single slot CD player, and having been back to the dealer they cure only for it to reappear.

Only small problem I have had with the 2 cars and just wondered if anyone else had experienced similar before I go back again.

Havent had any problems at all with the radio, have to admit we only ever have it on FM. One problem I do get and it is going back to the dealer is the demister, sometimes the fan doesnt seem strolng enough and can take a while to demist. Apart from that it is excellent, average around 20 - 22mpg towing the van.

have to admit the only fuel I use is Shell V power diesel or BP Ultimate diesel .

Thanks,

Not had any problems with the demister. Infact probably the opposite as I don't leave it on full power long as it is pretty powerful.

hi del

this is just a thought about your problem with your radio on am.

i would think that the problem is with your antenna,im not sure about the jeep but i use to have a voyager and the antenna was on one of the rear windows and i would think that is where the problem is.maybe im wrong but its worth a look anyway

Hi all,

if you do buy a Jeep, make sure the recalls have been done, the Grand Cherokee has had brake problems, built from 01/01/06 to 26/10/07 they had 'Electronic brake module may allow a delay in brake operation' and built from 01/01/07 to 26/10/07 they have 'Brake callipers could break under certain conditions' both very serious if it happens to you, a dealer car should have been checked but I would still ask to be sure.

These recalls also apply to some Commander, Wrangler and Dodge Nitro vehicles, interestingley other Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep models have a number of recalls current including 'front door catches could fail in certain conditions' and 'risk of fire' all a bit worrying.

One reason why I purchased from a main dealer and always take it to the same main dealer , all recalls are done automatically, but always ask before purchasing.

Hi, I have a 4 litre LTD X Reg that was converted to LPG from new. I have owned it for 6 of its 7 years and I really love it.

The LPG makes it really affordable as it returns the financial equivelent of 32 - 40 mpg (highest ever 45 mpg over 70 miles).

I had a a larger gas tank fitted last November that is s 102 litre torodial in the wheel well (holds 82 litres) to improve range, when it was originally converted they only made 66 litre tanks.

My Son in law has just bought a 4.7 litre same year(y reg) as mine and it is booked for in for conversion to lpg next week.

The local dealer that it was purchased new from closed a few months after it was new but the Service guys bought out the workshop and they have done all servicing and are reasonable and reliable.

Regards

Keith
